IMPORTANT INFORMATION!

These protective garments contain pads of cut-retardant material designed to reduce the risk or severity of injury to the body parts covered by the pads in the event of contact with a rotating chain. The fibers in the pads provide extra layers of material and are designed to rip apart if they come into contact with the moving chain and to clog the sprocket and stop the chain in certain circumstances. In some contacts, the pads may stop the chain. In other contacts, the pads will resist the cutting process only for a fraction of a second. The actual degree of protection afforded will vary with the speed of the chain at the time of contact, the power and torque of the saw, the design of the chainsaw sprocket and similar factors. Follow the washing instructions. Improper care may destroy cut-retardant properties of the material.


WARNING FOR CORDED ELECTRIC AND BATTERY CHAINSAW USERS!

The fibers may not stop the sprocket on most corded electric chainsaws and some battery-powered chainsaws because of the constant high torque. However, to reduce the severity of injury from accidental contact with the chain, STIHL recommends that leg protection be worn when operating these types of chainsaws.


REGULATIONS

All STIHL chainsaw protective apparel meets or exceeds OSHA Regulation 1910.266 for Personal Protective Equipment for chainsaw operators.


NOTE: Chaps are measured by overall length from the waist down. All chaps have a tough outer shell of oil/water-resistant nylon treated with rain/stain repellent.

UL Classified

This garment has been Classified by UL® (Underwriter Laboratories Inc.) as chainsaw cut-resistant leg protection for all Operators of Gas Powered Chainsaws by using ASTM (American Society of Testing and Materials) F1414 Test Method and ASTM F1897 performance standard. The Performance Protective Apparel is designed for paired use with Farm & Ranch STIHL units. This line of personal protective apparel is ideal for users focusing on both personal and work-related tasks.

Wearing protective apparel on the jobsite is critical—especially when cutting near active roadways. The Dynamic Hi-Vis apron chaps feature high-visibility nylon fabric that is visible by motorists traveling up to 50 mph. This meets the Class E reflective requirements and earns a Class 3 reflective rating when worn with the Class 2 reflective vest. The chaps also feature reflective ribbon made from 3M™ Scotchlite™ reflective material. When it comes to cutting protection, these chaps include six layers of Avertic® Pro by Engtex® cut retardant material, designed to reduce the risk or severity of injury in the event of contact with the rotating saw chain on a gasoline-powered chainsaw.
